There’s a lot of good advice in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, but one of my favourites was always his warning that “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while you could miss it.”
“’This explains why we think that time speeds up when we grow older,’ […] why childhood summers seem to go on forever, while old age slips by while we’re dozing. The more familiar the world becomes, the less information your brain writes down, and the more quickly time seems to pass.”
So, stop and look around once in a while – it won’t make you live longer, but you’ll feel as though you have.
