You don’t have to do this

I think I got a thumbs up from my subconscious last night.

SafewayI found myself in a dream where I was back working at Safeway, the supermarket, who employed me when I was a student 25 years ago.

The store was bigger and shinier but not much else had changed – except that I didn’t know what I was supposed to be doing and nobody would tell me. Not wanting to get the sack I started work putting some fruit out on display, hoping I was doing it right.

It wasn’t much fun – work never is if you don’t really know what you’re doing – until I had a sudden thought.

“You don’t need to do this, Stu. You have a good job already – you’re a freelance copywriter!”

So I left. Walked out of the store and away from that job.

It felt like passing a test from my subconscious: Are you sure this is what you want to be doing, Stu?

Yes. Yes, I am. 🙂
